About me.
This blog has been a long time coming. It does seem I have a lot to say for myself and need a platform to say it, so I guess this is as much for me as anyone.
What’s it about? Well I scribble some verse now and again. Much of it will be comment on current affairs or whatever. Maybe explore some experience or pet hates, who knows. I’m quite organic in my writing; let it flow, that’s my style. No ribbons or bows, I don’t believe in dressing up the truth for the sake of it…, no third person narrative, no invisible finger. Maybe the odd sub text narrative will creep in, just to keep it lively.
I am a late [or mature] graduate, having until recently spent 7 years studying with The Open University. My early years were pretty disruptive, so I missed out on getting any meaningful formal education. I have made up for it since though, and continue to study and research as a passion, mainly history. I have worked in the building sector on admin, covering all aspects from feasibility to completion of major building projects. Architectural history appeals and I have recently become involved with our local museum and a local history group. In recent years I have worked in the mental health field as a peer support worker, which is an expert by experience project. Yes I have seen both sides of the mental health system, and this is something else I will explore through my writings. My focus in this respect is very much on recovery and wellbeing, and in breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health. My physical health is now poor, with a severe and debilitating lung condition. Creative writing is mainly a therapeutic exercise. As I have become increasingly incapacitated, and by the same token isolated, writing is an ever more important escape for me. The inner life is just as much a journey, and please do feel free to join me on this log if you wish, most welcome. A word of warning, I do love to ramble on…
